We care for the planet. We also care about how we package your purchases and the effect our company has on the environment. To reduce our impact, we have ensured that our customers receive 100% plastic-free, biodegradable and widely recyclable packaging.
We love providing so many like-minded people with the tools they need to enjoy the outdoors, and thanks to our popularity amongst the adventure-seeking community, we have really had to think about how to minimise the impact we have on the planet. To combat this, we have reduced the amount of packaging we use with our automated packaging machine. This innovative machine ensures exact sized packages for our products, which has abolished the need for a further 90 lorry loads of deliveries every year!
Why we picked our packaging
Due to our seriousness on sustainability, the packaging we used in 2021 was 99.72% plastic free, made from 96.72% recycled content and 93.22% FSC Certified. Our void fill is 100% recycled paper, and the gum tape (made from natural resources) means that the complete package is recyclable and biodegradable!
We limit the quantity and types of less sustainable packaging our brands send to us, which caused our 2021 recycling rates to be as high as 84.92%. Often, the individual products are delivered to us in plastic polybags (don’t worry, we are working on this), meaning these will more than likely arrive inside our sustainable packaging. To combat this issue, we have developed the Plastic Cutback scheme, where we remove the polybag from the products before sending them to customers. When shopping with us, look out for the Plastic Cutback symbol to see what brands are signed up for the cause.
Furthering the lifespan of your package
Arriving on your doorstep should not be the end of your package’s journey. Although the urge to tear into your parcel is hard to resist, open your package with care, if you need to return an item, you can use it again. You can extend its life even further by trying to reuse your packaging, and if not please recycle. If for whatever reason you can’t recycle, most of our packaging will biodegrade back to mother nature.
